John is a strategic commercial trial lawyer with over 30 years of experience representing companies and individuals in complex, high-stakes business disputes in state and federal courts across the United States. He has devoted his career to protecting clients’ interests in matters involving intellectual property, unfair competition, trade secrets, restrictive covenants, and related business torts, as well as disputes involving contracts and licensing relationships, fraud, defamation, and competitive and distribution channel conflicts.
John has substantial experience handling brand, technology, and product-related disputes, including trademark, copyright, and false advertising matters, where he works to protect clients’ brand equity, innovation, and market position. He has served as first-chair trial counsel in cases before judges, juries, and arbitrators, and is experienced in strategic motion practice at all stages of litigation, including pursuing and defending temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions.
In addition to his litigation work, John serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders, helping clients assess risk, develop practical strategies, and align dispute resolution decisions with broader business objectives. Before joining Wolfe Law, John practiced for nearly three decades at Troutman Pepper, including 23 years as a partner, where he handled significant commercial litigation matters from inception through trial, appeal, and resolution. He began his legal career at Winston & Strawn.
